Kite History.
Kites were made originally for wars and on the battlefield they would use a kite to observe the enemy from a big height. The wings and the vanes on the kite alos made to more easily and stable enough to lift heavy objects. That's how they made kites in the early 1900's. The really old biplanes they used were pretty much just boxed kites with a tail and an engine. Kites have changed a lot in the last hundreds of years. There is more than just diamond shaped kites now a days, there is pretty mcuh any shape of kite in the world starting from a diamond to a ship. Kites today are used for enjoyment for little kids, people parachute from kites, there are buggy and kite surfing kites, and there is even a compettetive kite competition.
